Engraved or cut out

Engraved: the name is filled in black (ENGRAVE layer). Cut out: the letters are cut in red (CUT layer) with bridges on O, A, B, P, R, D… so the centres do not fall out.

Many names at once

Type one name per line and all the ornaments are arranged on the same sheet, ready to cut in a single run.

Tips

Use thick fonts (Fredoka, Montserrat, Pacifico) for cut-out names. Thin ones such as Great Vibes work better engraved. For cut-outs, the bridge should be wider than your machine kerf.

How to make your personalized Christmas ornaments

  1. Pick the design. The plain disc is a circle with a hanging loop; the snowflake has a window in the middle where the name goes.
  2. Type the names, one per line. All the ornaments are arranged on one sheet, ready to cut.
  3. Choose the font and the width. On the disc you can engrave the name or cut it out; on the snowflake the name fills the window.
  4. Download the SVG or the DXF and open it in your cutting software (LightBurn, Inkscape or another).

Engraved or cut out

Engraved means the laser fills in the letters without cutting through: they look dark on the wood. Cut out means the letters are cut all the way through. When cutting, letters with an island (such as O, A, B, P, R or D) get a small bridge so the centre does not fall out; you can adjust its width.

The window design

On the snowflake, the name is stretched to touch the top and bottom edges of the window, so it is fused with the frame and needs no posts or loose bridges. That is why only fully joined script fonts are offered. Loose dots and accents (the i, í or ñ) cannot be joined without a post, so they are left out and the tool tells you. If the name comes out thin, raise Thicken the letters.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use my own font?

For now only the fonts in the list are available. If you need another one, write to us from the contact page.

How big is the ornament?

You choose: on the disc it is the diameter and on the snowflake it is the width. 80 mm is a comfortable size for a Christmas tree.

Is my list of names uploaded to a server?

No. Everything is calculated in your browser.

Can I cut more than one ornament at once?

Yes. Type several names and set the sheet width to your material; the pieces are arranged in rows.
